Amber Mueller: It's not love
Nov 2 2019 - Nov 23 2019
Opening Reception: Nov 2 6pm-9pm
VERY LAST GALLERY EXHIBITION!!
“It’s not love” is an installation of selected paintings of brightly colored murals, decoratively painted found objects and painted vinyl records: which altogether, create an immersive environment that evokes amusement, uncertainty, and wonder from the viewer as they travel throughout the installation space.
Using paint to own, to disrupt and to tell a story, these works were created to explore our understandings, attitudes and positions we hold toward our rapidly changing political, social and natural worlds.
“The protestor who got jacked at the peace wall" 2019. Full mural on all gallery walls.
Various painted records, 2019. Discovered vinyl records, acrylic paint, two turntables, mixers and speakers.
Amber Mueller is a painter and media artist. She employs found video and audio recordings and creates collages that resemble portraits and narratives. Her work commonly contains themes of cultural identity, often examining the beautiful as well as the disturbing elements that are woven into popular American culture.
"It's not love" will be on display through November 23rd.
This will be the Totally Rad Gallery's last exhibition, as the gallery has been evicted by the new owners of the building. This last exhibition will be bittersweet so say good by after so many years of hard work literally building this gallery from scratch (we even built the walls!) and creating so many great relationships with our neighbors, our patrons and our artists!
A giant THANK YOU to everyone that patronized and exhibited our wonderful gallery these past 4 1/2 years, you helped make Totally Rad Gallery such a wonderful little gem in our Gilman community!!! This wonderful gallery space will be missed!
